Welcome to the Sunday Surf, a tour of the
best blogposts I've read throughout the week.
I have a LOT of links this week. So I'd better just get on to sharing them!
But I won't. First I'll show you goofy pictures of sparkly hair extensions Mikko convinced me to buy. (Never bring a 5-year-old to Sally Beauty Supply. Or do.) You'll notice that Mikko left them in for approximately 4 seconds, but Alrik's time was even faster. Even though
he could totally use the extra hair. Babies have no sense.

Sam refused to let me place one in his hair or his beard, on the grounds that I might post the resulting crappy cellphone pictures on my blog. As if! That man has serious trust issues.
To make up for your loss, I present you a picture of a 5-year-old helping me browse at Pier 1 Imports:
Now that we've gotten the important parts out of the way, on to the links!
Hee hee hee. How did you rate? I’ve got 9 out of 12 covered. I might just be a hippie.
Would you request cross-nursing in your will (or living will)? I never really considered it an option, since until recently I was never close to any other nursing mamas.
This is a great reminder for me, though. I would totally like to write a letter to store with my will and other important papers requesting donor milk if I’m unable to breastfeed for whatever reason, and have already informed Sam how he can obtain such donations if the need arises (from my wonderful
NPN sisters).
I wonder why more parents who support circumcision don’t at least allow the decision to be deferred to the child when he’s old enough to choose for himself. I like that Sheila gives such clear information about the relative risks of circumcision to a baby vs. an adult, as well as busting other myths.
Something I’ve been thinking about lately. Secure your tippy furniture. You want to keep your little climbers safe.
One of the kitchen plastics we’ve found hard to give up has been cling wrap, so I appreciate these ideas. (I’m also trying to limit our foil use.) We mostly use Pyrex glass containers with plastic lids, and I’m on a so far mostly unsuccessful campaign to switch us over to
reusable stretchy plastic lids
for regular dishes. I think I need to make or find some in bigger sizes, to fit over plates and pots, and just have more of them.
Explaining the difference between the two discipline strategies and a helpful example of a time-in experience.
On not judging the victims. See also:
I’ve read several similar articles, but it’s always good for a reminder. Squat, squat to pee, throw in some Kegels for good measure. That’s my working theory.

We love following along with fellow Sunday Surfers. If you have your own post of reading links to share, please link up your post on
Hobo Mama or on
Authentic Parenting. The linky will go live every Sunday, and you can link up any day that week. If Sunday doesn't work for you but you do a links list another day, feel free to play along. You only need to
add your post to one of the sites, and the linky will automatically show up on both sites.
You can get the
Sunday Surf button by
Jenna Designs and some code to add to your post from my
Sunday Surf page.
Check out
previous editions for good reading, and you can find more shared items during the week at
my Tumblr blog, Hobo Mama's Shared Items.
This linky list is now closed.
