Wordless Wednesday: 15 years

Wordless Wednesday: 15 years == Hobo Mama
Sam and I celebrated our FIFTEENTH anniversary last month.
So I surprised my better half with a fancy date.

See? I told you he was surprised!

Up, up, up … the Space Needle! I made reservations at the revolving restaurant SkyCity — it seemed a little bit kitschy, very romantic, lots of fun, and more money than we ever spend on a meal — but I figure we can afford it once every fifteen years.

The view from up there.

We hung out in the tourist area until our reservation was ready. It was amazing to sit and be able to TALK uninterrupted! If you can swing a real, live date with your partner, I highly recommend it — even if it's every fifteen years or so.

I like that this roof was all-natural, and I was able to peer into the P-Patch community garden that's on top of a downtown parking structure, as well.

We pondered the safety precautions workers have to take and concurred that we never want a job that requires us to be on the outside of the Space Needle.

Waving to the boys back at home, spending a delightful evening with their aunt.

The food! Vegetable gâteau with herbed béchemel cheese, topped with root vegetable dust (of course) and a quail's egg. We split our entrées with each other, because we're an old married couple!

Pork chop from Carlton Farms, with stone fruit relish and a side of duck fat frites. Because why not live a little, yes?

I swear, this evening — the food, the astonishingly attentive waiter, the valet parking, the champagne — totally spoiled me. Now I feel so disgruntled by Denny's…

Revolving restaurants mean tomfoolery from the guests. I couldn't figure out why a demi-god would be named Chor, but I decided to respond with a greeting. In my "defense," I'd had quite a bit of champagne by this point.

A geeky tableau. Interesting note: I got a little motion sick from the revolutions of the restaurant. I didn't realize that would be a problem! I also got lost when I left to go to the bathroom and had to walk the whole eating area to find Sam again.

What a fun way to celebrate! Moira is still asking to go to that restaurant, and she doesn't even know about the paper on the windowsill thing.
