If a toddler nurses in the forest and no one's around to see it,
is it really nursing in public?
There's my philosophical question for you.
Beyond that, just enjoy some photos of our lovely trip to Franklin Falls.
This is his new say-cheese smile.
Rainier cherries. Mmm …
There were a lot of trolls on the bridges.

Beautiful family pictures! That last one is adorable.
Beautiful Pictures!!
What a gorgeous collection of photos.
Thanks so much for posting these pictures. The more I see toddlers nursing, the more it just looks beautiful to me (I'll admit that when my daughter was first born, I thought, "No way! I'll never do that. I won't even nurse past a year!" Never say never). And the more confidence I have that yes, my 14 month old daughter is a toddler, and yes, it is just fine that I'm nursing her. I think because she's my first, people currently just think I'm delusional and am still seeing her as a baby. Nope, People, I'm fully aware she's a running, jabbering toddler and I love nursing her!
Beautiful! And I am going to check out your breastfeeding carnival!
The question you raise here couldn't have been phrased more perfectly. I miss nursing SO much and you just brought back a world of memories for me. Thank you for that. AND keep doing what you do!
I guess it won't really be considered nursing in public! Nursing in public gives me the idea that it is done with others' around. However, in a public place but without others watching or in a corner shouldn't be considered nursing in public.
What a great post :O) I nursed all three of my boys. A beautiful experience. Happy WW!
Nursing is beautiful, and SHOULD be done in public. I adore these pictures. Such a beautiful place.
great shots! That is sooo beautiful!
Beautiful. And I should confess that I once felt as Megan did at first. Never say never, indeed: now I am nursing a 22-mo, with no intentions of stopping until we are both ready.
Wonderful photos all around: the scenery, your beautiful child (and I love that smile) and nursing in the great outdoors. Fantastic WW.
So cute! I can't wait until Peanut is that big. I certainly hope she still wants to nurse. :-D
Great Photos... make me a bit meloncholy now that my BF days are behind me... :(
Could there be a more beautiful place to nurse? Thanks for sharing these photos! Just gorgeous!
I laughed at the "Cheese!" pic. My kids are firmly in that stage too.
lovely photos! It looks like a nice place for a hike :) There are always lots of bridge trolls on our hikes too.
Totally gorgeous. I am eating Rainier cherries at this very moment.
Looks like a great trip! What a beautiful place to spend the day!
Now that looks like fun. I almost posted pics of our little hike last night but we got back late and processing the images would have taken some time...so maybe for my next outdoor monday? Or next WW?
Lovely Pics :)
I love your pictures. You have the lovliest family. My fave is that last one (and the big troll. very cute ;)
Looks like a fun day. Beautiful pics. Love the waterfall ones. Thanks so much for linkin up for WW!
Franklin Falls looks like a fabulous day trip - thanks for sharing!
beautiful pictures. my daughter nursed for 18 months, then it wasn't of interest anymore :( I miss that bond
You always have the best photos Lauren! I love the last one the best.
Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing!
There has to be a public around to make it public. Great pics!
Beautiful. Does it really matter? Everyone eats in public and doesn't label it.
Love the gorgeous outdoor shots, beautiful moments indeed.
Wonderful testament to us Mama's nursing younger babes. Breastfeeding toddler's DOES happen. BEAUTIFUL scenery!
What a gorgeous and fun looking outing. Great pictures!
I got the giggles after I posed that question about public breastfeeding when I'm posting the pictures on the internet after the fact! But, then, I'm like that.
Thanks, everyone! It was such a lovely day at the falls. I was delighted to see Mikko really interact with nature and fall in love with it and enjoy his time with us. I think we need more family hikes!
I was so glad to get that last shot, too. The spray at the base of the falls was intense — the boys were soaked, but they kept going back for more!
Megan & Rachael (and the others who have nursed/are nursing/will nurse toddlers): I know! I had the same experience. The first time I saw a toddler nursing (and it was only in a photo, because I barely seen anyone nursing in real life), I thought it was so out there. But they grow so gradually, don't they? And if they still need it, they still need it. And when they don't, they let you know. I wrote about that phenomenon at Code Name: Mama, and I really loved Melodie's Wordless Wednesday post on the same theme yesterday.
beautiful family photos!
