In May, Alrik turned three years old, and two weeks later in June, Mikko turned seven.
We had fun celebrating our boys!

Since we would be on our trip to London for Alrik's actual birthday,
we celebrated him early. He helped with his own cupcakes.

Guess he was happy with how they turned out,
despite the extra eggshell!

We gave him his gifts to start playing with
before we went on vacation.
These floating foam bath blocks were the biggest hit
— he spends every bath building towers and shapes!

On his actual birthday, we headed to Hamleys Toy Store in London.

Tasty!

Birthday boy!

In between birthdays and parties, we enjoyed gifts in the mail.
Alrik loved his pull-back busy train book,
Mikko and I are bedtime-reading How to Train Your Dragon,
and both boys have played hard with Lego sets and Transformers from relatives!

Their sweet & talented cousin sent them home-sewn, personalized pillowcases.
If you're small enough, it doubles as a sleeping bag!

Donatello in the house!

For Mikko's actual birthday, Alrik helped me make this rainbow cake.
It was Mikko's choice after I talked him down from a sculpted T Rex.
(I'm not a professional baker, dude.)
It didn't taste very good to me, but Mikko loved it,
and I loved how colorful it ended up!

Is this meat? Tell me it's some sort of meat.
And that you're sharing.

Whatever it is, Mikko approves!

That's one happy birthday boy.

Finally (I know!), we had their PARTY, dinosaur-themed.
Even with just two families of friends over,
it was a crush, but a merry one.

This cutie (Jennifer's L3) befriended one of the cats,
who wasn't sure quite what to make of her ardent new admirer.

The smorgasbord was all gluten-free to accommodate our guests,
from fruit plate to nacho bar to sundae bar for dessert.

Shannon dishes up.

Alrik was very pleased with his prehistoric gifts.

And the decorations.

The older kids happily played Disney Infinity pretty much the whole time.

Make a wish!

Piñata time!
Sorry one is blurry — Google+ makes these for me automatically,
and I can't figure out how to get that one out!

It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to.
Something to do with getting beaned with the stick.
Partying is dangerous!

Especially for piñatas.
This one gets eviscerated.

Then some of us headed out to the beach.

Bubbles!

Happy birthday to my sweet, wild boys!

Aww, Happy Birthday to Alrik and Mikko! So cool. Loved seeing all of your photos.
TMNT! Adora and Juno are OBSESSED with this show. Adora keeps telling me that she thinks that Donatello is dreamy..oh, my gracious. But they seriously love it.
Mikko's cake is AMAZING! I'd love to make one like that for the girls (we already did Rainbow Day...Hmmm...maybe for Tanabata? Thanks for the inspiration!
How is it possible that your little one is already 3? Wow, time flies.
