Wordless Wednesday: Early weeks

It's my babymoon, so I might not have my hands free to comment and link up at all your fabulous Wordless Wednesday posts, but I still love to visit them all!

I have a picture of Mikko's first bath, by the hospital nurse, where he screamed the whole way through. I was so glad Alrik's first baths have been this: blissed-out, recollecting the calm of the womb and his birth.

Beautiful shots! Sasha's cord stump took SOO long to fall of, it took forever before we could bathe her. I gave her the first sponge-bath in the hospital, but was getting *really* weak before I could finish (I had to stand at the warmer).

So... how do you regulate the bath water, or do you? We have one of those floating toys that tells you when the water is hot and I think it is a bunch of hooey.

Thanks, everyone! I think he's pretty adorable. :)

@Gauri: I did! At the last minute before he was born, and I'm so glad, because it's working so well for us. I'll have to put up a post of the process soon!

@Momma Jorje: Are you not supposed to bathe them before the stump falls off?? Good thing I didn't research that one or I'd have had to feel guilty… ;) For both our boys, their stumps fell off within a few days — maybe the baths helped!

I was glad in the hospital that they left the washing him till we had bonded, and I did want him bathed at some point because he was a bit icky. :) But I was sad that I wasn't able to do it — I can see your point, though, that I'd have felt a bit iffy about standing up to do it. I much preferred sitting in the bath myself (once we were home) and soaking us both that way, so that's what I've done with Alrik, too. I just regulate the bath water till it's comfortable for me. I figure that's good enough — do you think? We had one of those floating temperature ducks, too, but I never knew how much to trust it. We seemed to like our water at the level that read as hot. :) (Now that I say that, maybe that's bad…heh.)

Absolutely beautiful. These photos make me eager to meet my own little miracle. But not yet. Baby needs to cook a bit longer.
