Guess who got to go on a date with this guy.
This girl! Woot.
Thanks to babysitting swapping with Shannon, I get to be spoiled with undisturbed time to TALK with my HUSBAND. I know! It's amazing. Did I mention we were NOT interrupted every thirty seconds? Seriously!
I was quite taken with this smiling puffer fish at the entrance. I was also a wee bit tipsy. I didn't realize how strong my drink was — good thing Sam could be my designated driver!
We decided to walk down to the lake since we had a little time left. Sam lent me his jacket (so chivalrous!) since I wasn't drunk enough to be warm.
We fantasized that we were fabulously rich and one of those floating homes was our vacation house. There was a sign up saying the last slips are being sold, so we'd better get on it!
I was quite taken with this dinosaur sculpture and thought my kids would be as well.
Proof that I got fancy for my date: a skirt! And boots!
Then it was back to the kiddos. Don't fret — they are well cared for at Shannon's and get along as well as two sets of kids around the same ages can. In other words, they totally squabble like siblings. It's like getting the experience of kids close together without having to actually raise them that way!
But there's still a lot of love. These were actually Shannon's pictures from when we swapped and it was her turn to go out, but as you can see, Alrik had trouble leaving Davis for the night. There were many, many hugs first.
Then Mikko had to get in on the hugging action.
And finally Walker swooped in and sandwiched them all!
I kid you not, even as we left, Alrik was knocking on the door and asking to come back in for one more hug! That kid is a machine o' sweetness.

Date nights are great, aren't they. Looks like you had a great time and the kids had fun too. Adult conversation is a novelty, isn't it? ;)
My dad babysits for us, once a month so we can go out, but is off to Thailand for 3 months soon, I will need to figure out a reliable babysitter! :(
