Wordless Wednesday: Family biking

toddler boy in bike helmet - biking outdoors

I've been meaning to take Alrik on a spin with the WeeRide bike seat
Mikko used to love so much.

Alrik was terrified at just seeing the bike — afraid it was going to zoom off on its own and crush him? I don't know — and not sure about the bike helmet.

We got him on the WeeRide seat but had to adjust the straps down down down from when Mikko last rode in it at about age three. As you can see, Alrik was pretty freaked out just sitting there, and I thought this was going to be a disaster.

We took off for a little glide, Alrik clutching onto my shirt with one hand and the bike with the other. And then … he started laughing. Phew!

Mikko's already a biking superstar (with his trusty training wheels).

We were supposedly riding
to someplace, but Mikko said,
"Can't we keep going? I just love bike riding so much." So we did!

Alrik said "Wheeeee" the
entire time.

A look back at Mikko in the seat! Hee hee.

Yea for family bike rides!

You'll also enjoy playful photos on the topic of Toy Box over at Natural Parents Network! Mikko's climbed inside his — of course.

What a cool attachment for a bike! I have never seen that before. That is so much better than having your toddler in a seat behind you or towed behind you in a cart. Looks like you all had a wonderful ride!

I sold my bike, because I wasn't using it, now I regret it. My kids love being out on their bikes, I need to buy a cheap one, so I can join them. Looks like you had such fun!

This all looks like so much fun! I can't wait till we can bike as a family too. We actually put the Wee Ride seat on Little Sister's birthday wish list based on your review. :-)

that close up of you and Alrik is perfection. Isn't it nice to get one where you look pretty!
I love the laughing riding one too. How cool for both of you to have captured that moment!

@Tree Peters: You reminded me! I forgot to credit Mikko there — he didn't want to be in the picture so offered to take one of Alrik and me. He's a budding photog!

And thanks for calling me pretty. :)

@Run DMT: That's what I love about it, too! He's right up front seeing the action, and I'm not nervous about what's going on behind me. And since Alrik was scared at first, I loved that I could show him my arms were right there around him. :) Mikko and I always had many a chat on our bike rides with that seat about what cars were going by and how many dogs we saw.

@The Mad House of Cats and Babies: That happened to us, too! I found this one at Costco for a decent enough price, but Sam got a much, much cheaper one on craigslist that works well enough.

@I Thought I Knew Mama: I'll keep my fingers crossed someone buys it for her! :)

Too precious! I would have been terrified to take off with such a nervous start from the little one. I'm glad it went so well!
