With skipping last week, I have so many links to share. Let's get to it!
- "How We Became a Web Company, by Peggy O'Mara" from Mothering.com: Mothering magazine is no more…. Sadness.
- "Inquisition Monday" from the bee in your bonnet: On bodily autonomy and the perception of "no rules."
- "A Moment of Terminology" from Domestic Chaos: Something to think about: What does "natural" mean in the context of childbirth, and what term might be more appropriate? You can read my comment in the comments section as well, if you're interested.
- "Women in Control of Epidural in Labor Use 30% Less Anesthesia" from BlogHer: I hope patient-controlled pain relief becomes more widely accepted! I was intrigued by the results the first time I heard about studies being done on patient-controlled morphine drips and thought it was definitely the way to go.
- "Androgyny in Children" from Anktangle: Yes, why is this still an issue? See also: "Can you tell a baby boy from a baby girl?" from A Haircut and a Shave, my post on "Why boys don't wear pink, and why girls do", and my son's choice of ballet attire.
- "Happy Valentine’s Day to my son…and the harlot with whom he’s living in sin." from PassiveAggressiveNotes.com: Ha! I always get cards from my mother-in-law addressed "To a Dear Son and 'Daughter.'" I don't know how she always finds them, but she does. I know she doesn't even mean it as a slight, because she's told me frequently her preferred term for daughter-in-law is "daughter-in-love." Awww.
- "How to: Quit Your Job and Go to Italy" from Small Notebook: Love! I want to move to England for a few months and love hearing that it's possible, given the right circumstances.
- "I Went Soap-free and I Liked It" from BlogHer: I'm soap-light. Have you tried this?
- "Tales of an Apartment Dweller, Part II: The Practical" from At the Bee Hive: As a fellow small-space dweller, agreed!
- "After dinner" from A Haircut and a Shave: Ah! Yes.
- "Nursing Necklace" from Mommying My Way: Another adorable nursing necklace for an adorable baby!
- "Let's get a Lactivist on Rachael Ray!" from Maman A Droit: Support NIP! See my companion post: "Support breastfeeding in public on Rachael Ray!" Send in your emails.
- "Pumping in public?" from The Milk Mama: What are your thoughts on pumping in public as opposed to nursing in public? Read the comments for some enlightening responses.
- "Answering Objections to Nursing in Public" from Nursing Freedom: I already mentioned this, but I'll mention it again: Here's a guest post of mine up at Nursing Freedom filled with funny retorts to NIP criticism. Fortunately, I haven't actually had to use any of them! How about you?
- A little Carnival of Natural Parenting news:
- We've updated our Carnival themes through November 2011, so you can plan ahead for what you want to write.
- Our submissions for March are due Tuesday — write us a natural parenting Top 10 list. I love the creativity we're getting with this topic! Feel free to go in any direction.
- I don't have time to recap two weeks from Natural Parents Network, but here are some highlights:
- "Allowing Crying Without Practicing Cry-it-Out" from Suchada of Mama Eve: Interesting post about finding a bedtime strategy that doesn't involve cosleeping and does involve some crying, and it led to interesting discussions on Facebook, too. What are your thoughts?
- "Parenting Through the Loss of a Pet" from Kelly of Kelly Naturally: We still have discussions of where our cat is and when she's coming home.
- "When Nursing Is Not Enough" from Kristin of Intrepid Murmurings: On the need to supplement and how it can work out well. See our related posts that week: "Four Ways to Supplement Breastmilk," "Wordless Wednesday: Breastfeeding Alternatives," and "Nursing Beyond the Breast." I was very happy we could host them all!

I am supposed to be asleep, not reading all the cool things you just posted, sheesh! ;)
Yes! Come to England! (But only after April)It is totally possible! (Says she almost done with six months in South Africa!)
I love the links about gender and children. I checked those out, and from the links in them have a small reading list to get through and think about now! I'm 29 weeks along with my 1st and thinking a lot about gender these days, so those were very timely for me. Thanks!
Thank you for mentioning my Haley post. ((hugs))
And big sighs about Mothering discontinuing their magazine. It's what brought me into the world of crunchy. *sniff*
Thanks for including my post!
