Growing with their trees: A height comparison through a decade

Hobo Mama wants you to know she's a professional blogger! Look at how professional she's being!

We bought a baby Christmas tree for Mikko's first Christmas, so we did the same for Alrik and Karsten. Here's how their measurements are keeping up over the years.

First, a look back: 6-month-old Mikko's baby tree.

2 and a half years old

3-and-a-half-year-old Mikko with his now bigger tree.

Missing his two front teeth for Christmas at 6 and a half.

7-and-a-half-year-old Mikko, both pretty dang tall! This tree stays out on the balcony in a state of benign neglect, which is why it's so scruffy. I assure you, we take (marginally) better care of our children than our plants.

Eight and a half years old. Tolerating picture time.

Nine and a half and leaning next to his leaning tree.

Dr. Seuss designed his tree,
and Mikko chose his own pose.

Dab style.

Since he'll be 11 next year,
I think he looks ready for his first term at Hogwarts.

Being a second child, Alrik apparently has
no pictures of him with his tree when we got it. (?)

So, here, this is a picture of Alrik at his first Christmas sans tree. Just imagine it's in the background, keeping a watchful eye over him as he eats ribbons.

Thumbs up for 2 and a half years old!

Happily posing with his tree at 3 and a half.
It's a softer Norfolk pine and can stay indoors for its benign neglect.

At 4 and a half. The tree's not any taller, though. Maybe if I'd watered it…

Last year at 5 and a half.

And stretching up this year at 6 and a half.
We decided to, like, water the trees this year,
so they're looking slightly better.
The kids always look healthy!

Being a third child, Karsten was jacked. Mikko & Alrik got to pick their trees out themselves. Mikko picked his before Christmas, Alrik perhaps just slightly after.

Karsten's I picked up, without him, in February, round about Chinese New Year. Therefore, it is a Money Tree, because that's what there was at Safeway while I was hurrying through grocery shopping. Third child in a nutshell right there.

Here's his 16-month goodness.

Last year's sweetness at 2 years old.

And now this cuteness at 3!

We'll check back next year!

OMG, I love these posts!!! I do feel sorry for your plants, though, lol. Not your kids, your kids look very well fed and watered, but your plants, not so much! Still, love this tradition, the neglected trees add an element of humor to the whole thing!

I have lots of well taken care of plants right now, but I'm under no illusions. If I had a third child, they'd all be crispy dead in about a nanosecond. Priorities!
