Thank you for including this in Spank Out Day! It's funny because I also wrote (among my many drafts) a post about Umbridge and what she was doing was wrong. I thought it interesting that she's not referenced as more of a villain. I postulated one reason could be because the adults watching it are reminiscing about being in a powerless state and having to submit to mistreatment. It's an ugly place to be trapped.

I too was rooting for the kids to stand up to her. And I think the way in which the twins do it was great. It completely undermined her power from the inside out, without doing outright violence. I know she gets "come-uppance" later when she's carried off, but the real victory was with those fireworks in the school.

What a sad story. Thanks so much for sharing it, though. While it’s nice that the woman’s son is well-behaved, it’s horrifying to think of the child’s crushed spirit. When there are ways for a child to end up self-disciplined along with having self-respect and independence, it’s tragic to think of discipline being approached in that way.
